Zipcar Portland has equipped nine vehicles with complementary bike racks, and 40 vehicles with federal Northwest Forest Passes and / or Oregon State Park Passes.
What: 9 Zipcars – Subaru Imprezas and Outbacks – have been outfitted with Yakima bike racks through the fall season. Each rack holds two bikes. In addition, 40 Zipcars have been outfitted with state and / or federal park passes, giving Zipsters free entrance and parking at local parks and forests. The cars with passes include Honda CRVs, Honda Elements, Subaru Outbacks, and some Subaru Imprezas.
When: The bike racks already are in place, and will stay on cars through the fall. The park passes also are in place, and are valid for one year (through August 2010).
Where: Zipcars with bike racks and forest passes are located throughout Portland, and can be found with two quick steps: 1) filtering for specific vehicle type, and 2) clicking on the vehicle’s description to view special features, such as bike rack or forest pass.
The Northwest Forest Passes are valid in Washington and Oregon National Forests at day-use siteswhere fees are collected.
Oregon State Park Passes are valid at hundreds of day-use park properties in the Oregon State Park system.
I think most state parks are free anyway … only a couple dozen charge. Rooster Rock and Stubb Stewart charge. Tryon Creek doesn't. And you probably meant "complimentary," not "complementary."
