On Tuesday in the late morning, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to render aid to a Mulino resident. It was reported the owner of this property discovered her horse — alive — stuck in a large hole filled with water, debris and unable to remove itself from the predicament.
These responding Deputies were assisted by Molalla Fire Department rescue personnel, who also were summoned to the scene of this animal rescue.
Responding rescue personnel discovered this animal to be visibly in distress, injured and in urgent need of assistance.
Water pumps were rapidly deployed to remove the large volume of water from the hole; however, the lowering of the water level revealed the extensive injuries the horse sustained from its ordeal.
Unfortunately, at approximately 2:35 p.m.with all the valiant efforts provided at the scene by rescue personnel, it was readily apparent the injuries the horse sustained were excruciatingly severe. As a result, this 5-year-old, quarter horse was humanly euthanized at the scene to curtail any additional suffering.
