There should be standards of discipline for anyone representing the U of O, as well as their sports team. Discipline and standards of behavior are not just a good idea when it is 'easy' to do. It's a stupid football game. He embarrassed the university, sure, but I don't think you are in any position to DEMAND anything. I think the University's response is adequate. Besides, anyone who has spent any time around college programs with disproportionate attention and money spent on athletics already knows that the "student" athletes are a special class of citizen, one to be pampered and coddled. They bring in too much money from alumni (like our self-righteous author here) to be kicked out of school. You paid your money, you got your degree, now let them run their "business" as they see fit. If this type of altercation happened on a city street, the police would have thrown him in jail and the person who he punched would have pressed charges.
