Elderly, Innocent Man Shot in North Portland
On Sunday evening, July 31st, Portland Police Officers responded to a shooting at the Tamarack apartments on N. Alaska St. Witnesses indicated there were 4 males arguing in the courtyard when gun shots suddenly rang out.
As officers were searching the area for suspects, they heard a person crying out for help from inside an apartment. Officers broke down a door and located a 75-year-old man that had been shot though the wall of his apartment. The man was transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries.
The investigation is in its early stages and no additional information is available at this time. The Gang Enforcement team is participating in the investigation but it is not yet known if the incident was in fact gang related.
