Another Portland Startup Wins Venture Funding, the Silicon Forest is Back

So far, 2010 has been a hot year for Portland area startup’s. Companies that have won venture financing this year include Urban Airship, Second Porch, ActiveTrak, Puppet Labs, Jive Software and now…..Elemental Technologies. Elemental is a video processing company that makes software and systems to process video more efficiently without loosing quality. This round of funding was first hinted to back in June 2010.

Mike Rogoway from The Oregonian has the story:

Portland startup Elemental Technologies is getting fitted for a pair of mouse ears.

The video processing company plans to announce details today of $7.5 million in venture backing led by Steamboat Ventures, the venture capital arm of The Walt Disney Co.

The new arrangement represents ongoing evolution at Elemental, which has expanded beyond the video editing software it introduced two years ago to focus on powerful online tools for broadcasters.
