4 UO, OSU Football Players Drafted into the NFL

The 2010 NFL draft has come to an end and 4 players from the University of Oregon and Oregon State are now professional football players. They join a Portland native that was drafted in the first round on Thursday.

From University of Oregon

T.J. Ward, a senior FS, was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 2nd round.

Ed Dickson, a  senior TE, was drafted in the 3rd round by the Baltimore Ravens.

Walter Thurmond, a senior CB, was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the 4th round.

Senior RB LeGarrette Blount was available in the draft but was not selected. His suspension last season likely worried many coaches. He is expected to work out for multiple teams before the season begins and will likely land somewhere in the NFL.

From Oregon State University

Sean Canfield, a senior QB, was drafted in the 7th round by Superbowl champs the New Orleans Saints.

Senior LB Keaton Kristick was available in the draft but was not selected.

No other players from Oregon based college football teams were selected. As reported on Thursday, Portland native Ndamukong Suh from Nebraska was drafted 2nd overall to the Detroit Lions.
