Startup Weekend Portland Launches 9 Companies

Former Oregonian Andrew Hyde started Startup Weekend in Boulder, Colorado in 2007. Little did he know then that his own startup business would soon turn into an international phenomenon. Held in over 50 cities and 12 countries around the world, Startup Weekend has helped launch projects and companies that have gone on to do everything from shut down to generating significant revenue and even being acquired.

Startup Weekend is described as an event that recruits a highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more to a 54 hour event that builds communities, companies and projects.

Portland hosted its second Startup Weekend this past Friday through Sunday at NedSpace in Old Town and 9 companies were proudly launched! Those companies are:

As noted above, there were 3 ‘winners’ from the weekend, based on a vote by a panel of entrepreneurs and investors. EyeClash, a video chat enabled online gaming site, walked away with the top prize. In 2nd was Set Price Alert, a service that notifies Amazon.com shoppers when prices of previously identified items drop. In 3rd and named most fundable was CPUsage, a commercial volunteer grid computing service.
