For months now there have been rumors circling the tech sphere about the possibility of Sony releasing a new PSP model to replace the much applauded PSP-3000 model which has not seen a major overhaul since its inception. The new model, affectionately named the PSP-Go, will sport 16 gigs of internal memory, a memory card slot and have Bluetooth. Sony announced that the PSP Go will not replace the current model but will be present alongside of it on store shelves for the time being. Sony is also making a play at the downloadable games market after seeing great success with Apple’s online app store and hopes to sell games moving forward in an online games store. The new PSP Go is very small and has a slide out game pad making it more compact and in many ways very similar to the Sony Mylo which did not fare well in the gadget market. Many fans of the PSP will be disappointed in the fact that Sony has not added Dual Analog joysticks which has been the most requested feature by fans.
Sony plans on launching the new PSP Go in the fall with an undisclosed price point. The new game system will most likely be a hit as many people want a high quality mobile gaming experience while also having the ability to listen to music, watch movies, etc. However, it will most likely not upset the cult like status of the iPhone and the iTouch from Apple.

Imo, the PSP 3000 is the best PSP ever, even the new PSP Go can’t beat the PSP 3000.
